So remember when you had a dream, a dream where hoverboards existed. It would be the coolest thing that everyone would be using. That idea was conceived when Back to the Future II was released, and time and time again peoples’ dreams have been crushed with hoax after hoax. So when Lexus released a teaser video with hoverboard hype, the whole world was more skeptical than excited because the promotional video never showed the board in action.

But never fear! If this is some hoax, then the Lexus’s name will be shamed throughout all the corners of the Internet. But if it is true, then every 80s kid will have their dreams become a reality! According to Lexus, this hoverboard uses magnetic levitation to make the board hover. By using liquid-nitrogen-cooled semiconductors and magnets to allow for frictionless travel, it enables the board to be floating inches above the surface. Lexus stated that they plan to begin testing this device in Carcelona this summer and there is no expected release date of this product to the public. One can expect though that this will be pricey and definitely something that won’t be sold at children’s stores. Only time will tell whether or not the dreams of every 80s kid can finally be realized or if their hopes will be crushed once again. Hopefully the former though and if not, someone else will find a way. It’s not that human’s imagination is lacking, but the technology to achieve it that is.
