The evening was festive and not the least bit incestuous at the Beginning of Term (BOT) celebrations which took place Friday May 10. Unlike the houses Baratheon, Lannister, Stark and Targaryen the approximately 100 students and recent grads in attendance did not fight or squabble. However, name tags were circulated and attendees were forced to affiliate themselves with one of the four great houses.

The excitement in the crowd mounted as the evening progressed; the Tools’ eventual arrival eagerly was anticipated by the co-op drained masses. Rain may have dampened the world beyond POETS, but it could not dampen their spirits. Finally the moment long waited arrived. As per BOT tradition the Tool was welcomed with the customary unruliness of the crowd and certain good tasting beverages being quickly consumed. In fact with the appearance of the Tool, none could have been closer except perhaps the Stark children and their Direwolves, and the Leafs and the Stanley cup. A video montage brought the memories of past term shenanigans in to sharper focus.

Once the Tool had departed the Hockey game was brought forth. A moment in history was being closely followed by all proud Canadians that night. The Leafs, sometimes awkward, sometimes slower than they needed to be, reached for the ultimate throne in the Hockey world… and with Bostons’ loss they were one small battle closer in the greater war to conquer the southern neighbors. With that great victory the masses were released into the world, and a sea of red shirts journeyed forth to greater festivities.
