Hi fellow members of the awesome A-Soc and welcome back for another wonderful (except much warmer) term here at UW. For those of you who were working in Waterloo and hung around campus last term, this article is going to be a rehash of what you know already last term. For the rest of you, this is the tale of what happened at UW last term while you were off in a far-away land.

First up, B-Soc had yet another election! Due to academic performance, both the VP-External and WEEF Director, who were elected in spring 2012, had to be replaced. As a result of this election, Kristina Lee in 2016 Environmental Engineering is B-Soc’s new VP-External and Himesh Patel is the new B-Soc WEEF Director.

Feds also elected a new set of executive last term with “Team Yellow” victorious. This team was made of President David Collins, Vice-President Internal Devin Drury, Vice-President Education Adam Garçia, and Vice-President Administration and Finance Natasha Pozega.

On a more somber note, June Lowe, a fixture in the first year’s lives and a dear friend to virtually everyone else, retired. There was a huge celebration party in honour of her plethora of contributions to UW engineering and numerous tributes to her.

Additionally, last term was when we had to say goodbye (to most) of the class of 2013. Since it was a winter term, the 2013 grads were up to their usual shenanigans during Disorientation Week and IRC/IRS. There also happened to be a massive blizzard the day before IRS, shutting down the entire school for the day. This did not deter the grads who still managed to have a multitude of pranks such as turning E5 into a carnival and sending out a “fake” email saying that all engineers still had class during the blizzard.

In outreach and conference news, the university played host to the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES) Congress and sent delegates to the First Year Integration Conference at Lakehead. National Engineering Month was also incredibly successful this year with the Rube Goldberg Machine and K’NEX Bridge Building events as highlights.

There were also a number of other events that happened last term including Semi-Formal, Pubcrawls, and OTs.

Well, there’s your brief summary of the comings and goings of last term . Here’s to another term.
