Internal to Operations

Note: This article is hosted here for archival purposes only. It does not necessarily represent the values of the Iron Warrior or Waterloo Engineering Society in the present day.

Hello bright shiny people!

I’m Angela Stewart and I’ll be your VP-Operations under a trial run for the new executive structure. All your favourite EngSoc events/directorships that were previously under the VP-Internal portfolio will continue and have now moved over to the VP-Finance and the Student Life Commissioner. Where VP-Internal was more of an event management position, the VP-Operations’ role is defined as one of representation and management of the operations of the Society. This includes managing all official communications and advertising from your student society, developing and improving student events and services, and working as a representative of the Society to various groups around campus, similar to FedS. I’ll also be supporting my brilliant commissioners and directors.

Speaking of directorships, do you want that elusive “proven leadership experience” employers always seem to be asking for? Do you have an idea for an event or service you think will improve life for Waterloo Engineering students? Do you want a budget and a league of dedicated volunteers to help you pull this off? If you said yes to any of these, apply to be a director for the Engineering Society. Online applications are available on the EngSoc website and will close August 4th.

Take a break between studying and check out the Engsoc website (www.engsoc.uwaterloo.ca, under the Directors tab) to check out the different directorship positions. Have an idea for an event or service that’s not listed here? Apply to make up a new directorship! Directorship positions look great on a resume, helps you develop leadership and management skills, and are a ton of fun.

The next 16 months are going to be quite the adventure and I’m very happy to get to represent you and work with an amazing team of volunteers.
