Hi, I’m David Birnbaum and I am going to be your VP-Finance for the next 16 months. I am very excited to be representing you in the Engineering Society, and I look forward to getting to know many of you. I have already begun working on several ideas, and will continue to do so during my upcoming off-stream term. These items include the following: 1) Researching new items to put into Novelties; I will not only be continuing to look for new t-shirt designs, but also completely new items to put in everyone’s favourite store. 2) Working with the Capital Fund Committee to bring you all the improvements you want to EngSoc and the school. 3) Working with the directors and commissioners to begin developing a budget before the term starts, so it is accurate and concise as soon as possible. Once we are all back in January, I will continue to improve Novelties, making it more visible with frequent sales and promotions. I plan to work closely with the directors and commissioners throughout the semester to keep a tight budget, enabling all events to run smoothly. I expect to open both capital fund and sponsorship applications earlier in the term, so that all teams and groups will have more time to hand in a succinct proposal, and hopefully receive their funding sooner. Don’t forget that directorship applications are now open, so apply on the EngSoc website if you’re interested. I am thrilled that I will get the chance to work with you all, and I anticipate great times over the next 4 terms.
