Apps to help you through the Finals
Finals are around the corner and having distractions are essential for any studying plan. The following are must have apps that may or may not help with your studying. Disclaimer – I am not responsible for any increase or decrease in marks these apps may cause.
2048
Need help with adding powers of two? This app is for you. An extremely addictive, frustrating game that involves blocks and minimal math – two fundamental things every engineering student require. Develop the perfect algorithm to reach the promise land of 2048. Once the game is beaten, stop playing. Delete the app, block the website and never speak of it again. Warning: This game may make you feel smarter than you actually are.
QuizUp
Do you hate waiting until Thursdays to show off your trivial knowledge? Or get annoyed by the number of profanities used by the ass-hat who hosts it? The perfect solution – QuizUp. You can challenge random strangers or best friends in a variety of topics ranging from F.R.I.E.N.D.S to Folklore. There are hundreds of categories and new topics are added every day. You have chance to gain titles such as Smartypants, Dough Boy, Leaping Leprechaun or Pavlov’s Dog. Warning: This game may make you feel dumber than you actually are.
Space Team
Have you ever pretended to be an astronaut flying a spaceship? Your dreams are about to come true, sort of. With Chris Hadfield making astronauts cooler than ice cold, this is the must-have app of the season. Grab 1-3 of your best buds, grab your phones and start yelling. The instructions on your screen are for the person(s) you are playing with so communication is the key. Avoid asteroids, wormholes and fuel leakage along the way. Don’t play this game during lectures or where other people would judge you. Trust me. Warning: This game will make you feel cooler than you actually are.
Paper Toss 2.0
It’s March Madness time. Raptors are making a playoffs push. Baseball season may be around the corner but basketball is in full swing right now. This app has very little to do with basketball, except for shooting various objects in a garbage can. Paper Toss is all the fun of tossing crumpled paper into a garbage can but without the walk of shame when you miss. Let’s be real, no one wants to walk the walk of shame. Practice with this app and next time you have to toss an assignment/midterm/work term reports into a recycling bin, you will be ready. The results may or may not be transferable to real world. Warning: This game may make you feel baller-er than you actually are.
