Hey Engineers!
Hope all of your midterms went well, and you’re back into your normal routine of flash games and playing Frisbee outside. π
First off, you should all know that JOINT COUNCIL is THIS WEEKEND! On Saturday, June 25th, come see both societies in action at the same time in CPH 3607 at 5 pm. Also there will be special food items in POETS after!
Registration for the Waterloo Engineering Competition (WEC) is now open! WEC encompasses three competition categories – Junior Team Design, Senior Team Design, and Consulting Engineering. Top-placing teams receive a designation on their university transcript, a cash prize from the Sandford Fleming Foundation, as well as the opportunity to advance to the Ontario Engineering Competition. For more information and to register, visit http://wec.uwaterloo.ca. Registration is limited… so act FAST!
The Women in Engineering Directors have been hard at work planning a special WIE event that will take place sometime closer to the end of the term. This event is geared to celebrating Women in Engineering (undergraduate, graduate, and faculty members) and also focused on educating the engineering student population about current issues centred around WIE. This event is going to be amazing, so get excited!!
Canada Day is coming fast!! The EngSoc Canada Day directors have been hard at work planning Mini Olympic activities to contribute to UW’s Canada Day Celebration. Come out to CIF on Canada Day to join in on the festivities or send them an email to volunteer.
Onto charity stuff!
β’βI will keep reminding you that pancake breakfasts happen every other Tuesday in the CPH foyer. Come out and get yummy pancakes AND help a cause. Your money will go towards EngSoc’s goal to build a school in India through Free the Children.
β’βRight now, there is an inter-faculty blood drive going on! It’s basically a competition to see which faculty can donate the most blood during the 56 days. If you would like to participate, head over to the Waterloo Canadian Blood Services clinic at Weber and Bridgeport. If you get a group to go, you could get a free cab ride there and back!!
β’βDo you have empties just sitting around at home? Well keep them!! The charity directors are going to be having a bottle drive closer to the end of the term, and they will come pick the empties up, return them and donate the money to charity. There will also be competitions involving building something out of your empties.
The charity directors are also trying to get a Purpling for Alzheimer’s event together. Basically, you pay different amounts of money to get different parts of your body PURPLE! More details to come!
That’s all I have for now for VP-External things. If you have any questions on anything I mentioned above, please email me at asoc_vpext@uwaterloo.ca.
