The 50 Minute Sleep Cycle

Note: This article is hosted here for archival purposes only. It does not necessarily represent the values of the Iron Warrior or Waterloo Engineering Society in the present day.

Many people have heard of the Da Vinci, or polyphasic sleep cycle, where proponents take four 20-30 minute naps per day, rather than a full sleep at night.

This term, I have experimented with the very successful 50 minute sleep cycle. I spend all night working on VP Ed duties and then take 3 to 4 50 minute naps per school day. Luckily, I have professors who kindly oblige in promoting such healthy sleep, including the provision of very comfortable course notes, soothing, monotone voices and poor room acoustics conducive to sleeping rather than listening to class.

Thanks so much to the University of Waterloo in promoting healthy sleep habits and leading me to this revolutionary idea. I will be sure to credit this fine institution with the accolades it deserves in leading me to this new sleep system.
