You know… I still can’t wrap my head around the fact it’s 2025… I probably won’t until March.
But that’s okay – 2025 has something much better to offer than new year’s resolutions! A lot of good movies came out last year and the cinema industry isn’t done rolling out possible box-office sweepers. If you have time to kill (which I hope you do eventually), I suggest watching these movies coming out later this year.
How to Train Your Dragon
Yup! The live action remake of one of our childhood favourites is coming to the silver screen this summer! I’m sure all of us have high hopes for this movie and can’t wait to see what they have in store for us! I’m putting this one first because it’s the one I’m most looking forward to!
Captain America: Brave New World
I’m a very big Marvel guy, so this is one I MUST go watch when it comes out on Valentine’s (isn’t that the week this article is gonna get released?)! If you like Marvel and are taking a break from studying during reading week, this movie’s for you!
Avatar: Fire and Ash
This one is planned to be a December release, but since it’s the third movie in the Avatar series, I’m sure we can all be patient.
Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning
I only just got into Mission Impossible two summers ago, and Dread Reckoning blew me away! Can’t wait for the sequel! The teaser trailer did a banger job hyping me up! 🙂 I hope May comes fast!
Karate Kid Legends
We got Jackie Chan. We got Ralph Macchio. This oughta be good.
(Though what I really wonder is how the ending of Cobra Kai is going to affect the movie…)
Zootopia 2
Zootopia came out a while ago, so I’m glad to hear there’s a sequel coming out. If you loved the first movie, why not watch the second?
Michael
I think pretty much everyone knows who Michael Jackson is. His full story… maybe not. Luckily, a biographical drama film is coming out that will talk about his life and career, starring… his nephew! This one’s on my to-do list for October!
Jurassic World: Rebirth
I did not know this existed until I did my research. It seems like they’re making a new Jurassic World that’s set to release in July… It appears it will follow three researchers and a family as they traverse dinosaur-filled regions in search of three rare species, five years after the events of Dominion, which has created an uninhabitable environment for dinosaurs… Interesting!
A Minecraft Movie
I have no words – I’m sure we are all excited for a Minecraft movie! This one better be good. The time to flock the cinemas: early April.
Superman
DC Studios are up to something big. The DCU? And it looks like they want to make this Superman reboot their first entry… DC fans, start lining up in July!
Now You See Me 3
Plot undisclosed.Â
Oh well. It seems people liked the first a lot, the second a bit (or lot) less… So could the third be up to thrill their audience again?
The Conjuring: Last Rights
I’m not really into horror movies, but it seems like this movie is going to be the grand finale of The Conjuring series. If you like horror movies, this might be for you… just be patient until September.
Wicked: For Good
Yes!!!!!! I haven’t seen Wicked yet, but there is a sequel coming out in November! It will continue from the end of the first part, and follow Glinda and Elphaba’s friendship being put to the test as they become the great witches of Oz and have their actions determine their land’s future.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
The MCU’s Phase Six is nearing (already! I still have so many movies and shows to catch up on…)! The Fantastic Four reboot in July is planned to be the first movie of Phase Six, featuring the superhero family’s battle against Galactus and the Silver Surfer. Oooooooh…
Thunderbolts
Another MCU addition, the Thunderbolts will feature characters from many Marvel movies that we haven’t seen in a WHILE. Though this movie isn’t talked about a lot (yet), if you see some posters of the team, you have to admit that they seem like a pretty interesting bunch…
Snow White
Disney… Nostalgia… Mash that up with a princess, seven dwarfs and an evil queen and you have one of the most anticipated live-action remakes of 2025. I know we’re not kids anymore, but if Disney knows what’s at stake here, they won’t mess this up. Besides… nostalgia! It’s been so long since I last watched Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! If Disney nails this, I’m watching it.
Lilo and Stitch
To end off our list, we have another Disney live-action remake for Lilo and Stitch (again, I know we’re not kids anymore, but please indulge me). I also don’t remember much from the original, but I do know it was funny… Let’s hope this one is too! If you’ve seen the teaser with Stitch playing on the beach, then you’ve probably also gotten a tingling feeling that this movie could be good!
Alright, that’s enough for now…
I could make this list go on and on and on with other movies coming out this year… but we all have other things we have to get on to. If there’s a sequel you’re looking forward to or a movie series you know is getting a sequel, feel free to check out when it’s coming out! As for now, I hope I got you in a good mood and with a good list of movies to get hyped about.
Have a happy reading week – and don’t forget to relax (please)! Y’all got this! 🙂
