Welcome to the 2014 IW awards, the most anticipated event of the 2014 engineering season. Here we highlight the key events.
In what is probably the most predictable award of the night Kate (2B Nano Chem) received the Editor’s Choice award for the 14th semester in a row, this will be the final time she graciously accepts the award before graduating. All previous editors got together and unanimously agreed that they would like to thank Kate for her constant support at their darkest times, for being a pillar of support and a shoulder to cry on. They would also like to thank Ioana (4B Nano), Kate’s partner in crime, for her outstanding assistance with endless shenanigans.
Most handsome newspaper correspondent is in great contention as both Edward Blake and Wade Wilson (4Z Handsomeness and 4Z Handsomer) seem to feel with utter contention that the other one has made despicable clothing choices. A comparison of selfies from the last eight months was inconclusive. However the IW awards committee did comment that “There were enough selfies for us [the committee] to learn the rate of facial hair growth for each man.”
One thing that is not in contention is that for life advice and stories of interesting (and probably more than a little dangerous) adventures Roy Lee (4B Chem Nano) takes the hat. If you want to compare getting into a mountain bike accident with a motorcycle accident he’s your guy. If you want to know where to get cheap, if a little sketchy, meat he’s your guy. If you want to know how Ontario weather compares to Calgary winters he has your back. (Is our weather still warmer Roy? IS IT?) He is a fountain of wisdom and we wish him the best!
The award for abstract musical taste goes to Krishna (4B Nano). Do you want some advice on eclectic, loud music? Yes, yes you do. Oh, you don’t like that? You Mad Bro?!? Well you’ll like this, let’s turn it up; it can only make it better! Oh, okay… He’ll be jamming out over there with his head phones on. When you discover that listening to Krishna’s music has caused you to develop serious issues Anjali (4B Nano) can give you advice. For this we would like to give her the award for best health and wellness column.
There was something weird with the final award, so we sent it back to be fixed. Dushanth has been voluntold to go get it, he’ll be back soon-ish. On that note, we need him to write a couple articles.
