Wow, time has flown by this term! It seems like we just wrapped up Orientation Week, and yet here it is; almost time for final exams and a well-deserved holiday! This term has been especially busy for me, as I have been preparing for my maternity leave. In addition to decorating the nursery (we considered engineering purple for the wall colour, but opted for a more neutral yellow!), and reading up as much as possible about how to be a good mom, I’ve also been busy at work, preparing for the person hired to cover my year away.
I am very excited to introduce Meg Bauman as the Student Relations Officer for the upcoming year! Meg currently works right here on-campus, at Conrad Grebel University College as the Recruitment and Events Coordinator. Meg’s first day will be Monday, December 6, 2010 and we will have two weeks of training before my last day on December 17, 2010. Meg will be working in my office, CPH 4361 so feel free to stop by and say hello.
I’ll let Meg tell you more about herself, but I would just like to say that I’m super excited for Meg to cover my position! I have every confidence that she will do an incredible job in the coming year and continue to provide a high level of support for your activities.
I’ll be sure to come by and visit in the New Year, and introduce you all to Baby Jardin… perhaps a future engineer of the class of 2033!! Wishing all of you a successful year ahead!
Cheers,
Robin

I’m excited about this opportunity to join the Faculty of Engineering for the next year! I have spent the last couple of years working in recruitment at Grebel, and I know some of the best Waterloo stories are about engineering students. You all have amazing energy, creativity, and enthusiasm. I feel privileged that I will be able to see some of these stories come to life.
Here’s a bit about me. I currently live in Waterloo with my husband and two children. I grew up in California and moved to Waterloo for university. As a duel citizen I wanted to become familiar with my Canadian roots and enjoy having four seasons in a year. I’ve discovered my love of fall comes to an abrupt end about this time every year. I taught high school for a few years, but have since found a home in the post-secondary working environment. I enjoy the company of good friends, camping in the summer with my family, and reading. So please let me know if you have any good book recommendations!
I have heard great things about Robin and I know I have some big shoes to fill. I’m looking forward to working with many of you! Please stop by the office and say hello sometime soon.
Good luck with upcoming exams!
Meg
