VP Internal: So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

Note: This article is hosted here for archival purposes only. It does not necessarily represent the values of the Iron Warrior or Waterloo Engineering Society in the present day.

Hello everyone!!! I can’t believe this is my last Iron Warrior article as your A-Soc VP Internal! It feels like just yesterday that my term began. It’s been a great run, and I want to send out a huge thank you to all the directors and commissioners I’ve had a chance to work with during the last 16 months. I also want to thank Brendan for being such a great partner throughout our term together!

So some of you may be wondering what Brendan and I have accomplished over these last 16 months. One of the most successful workshops we have brought back to the Engineering Society was the Interview Skills workshop. This term, with the help of our lovely volunteers, we ran this workshop for approximately 75 first year students! Along with our planning information and documents, and the feedback from our volunteers and the participants, we wrote up transition document to use for a director to run this event next term. Hopefully this continues to be a successful event which assists our first year students with interviews.

We also worked on updating all of our directorship handbooks, which are sent to all directors at the start of their directorship as a starting point. These handbooks will also become available online, so anyone interested in a specific directorship can look more into what’s involved before applying.

I want to end off by wishing Puneet Natt, your new A-Soc VP Internal, the best of luck next term! I’ve already started talking to her about the role and giving her all the need to knows. I’m really excited for her and all of the wonderful ideas she wants to implement.
